Prof. Thomas, accompanied by his wife Narell, was in Hong Kong to attend a conference on global universities organized by the British Council. They were able to be our guests at an informal dinner with some of our younger alumni at the Hunan Garden restaurant in Exchange Square. It was a most convivial occasion, with a good deal of sharing about life in Hong Kong and life in Bristol. In his thank you note after the occasion Prof. Thomas said how much he enjoyed meeting ‘such an outstanding group of young people’ and that it was an evening he had most thoroughly enjoyed!
